Approaching "cultural assets" from an economic perspective

This paper aims to present the role of economic perspectives associated with the advertising of cultural heritage in the procedure of presentation of the sites. The presentation of cultural heritage does not consist of a neutral procedure. Values that are associated with everyday life as is this of economic importance are found to be involved from such presentation and specifically the sites that have been nominated to the World Heritage List from Greece. The policy of two organisations -the Ministry of Culture and the Greek Ministry of Tourism- are examined integrated to the heritage presentation. The specific study investigates the economic dimensions that emerge from such presentation using a diverse range of sources (triangulation) concluding with the implications of the economic management of sites and which they are associated with political and social phenomena.Το άρθρο αυτό στοχεύει να καταδείξει το ρόλο των οικονομικών προεκτάσεων που σχετίζονται με την παρουσίαση της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς και τη διαδικασία ανάδειξης των μνημείων. Η παρουσίαση της κληρονομιάς δεν αποτελεί μία ουδέτερη διαδικασία. Αξίες που συνδέονται με την καθημερινή ζωή όπως αυτή της οικονομικής σημασίας βρέθηκαν να ενέχονται στην παρουσίαση της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς και συγκεκριμένα για τα μνημεία που έχουν εγγραφεί στη Λίστα Παγκόσμιας Κληρονομιάς από την Ελλάδα. Οι τακτικές δύο οργανισμών -Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού και Ελληνικός Οργανισμός Τουρισμού- εξετάστηκαν αναφορικά με τον τρόπο που σχετίζονται με την προώθηση των μνημείων. Η συγκεκριμένη έρευνα χρησιμοποιώντας ένα ευρύ πεδίο πηγών (triangulation) καταλήγει με τις προεκτάσεις που απορρέουν από την οικονομική διαχείριση των μνημείων και που σχετίζονται με πολιτικά και κοινωνικά φαινόμενα
